Welcome to the Midwest Double Reed Society.
The MDRS is an organization dedicated to supporting the needs of oboists and bassoonists throughout the Midwest.

The next MDRS Young Artist Competition for high school and university students is scheduled to take place on April 10, 2010 at the University of Arkansas—Fayetteville. Richard Ramey and Theresa Delaplain have graciously agreed to host this year's event. For more information on eligibility and deadlines please click on the above link.
MDRS Sponsor-A-Student Program
The MDRS will be sponsoring one student member to attend the International Double Reed Society conference in Norman, OK this June. The sponsorship will cover the student registration fee for the student selected. The deadline for applications is March 15, 2010.

The Eighth Annual MDRS Double Reed Festival last October was a great success. The event featured guest artists Daniel Stolper, Instructor of Oboe at the Interlochen Arts Academy and Professor Emeritus of Michigan State University, and George Sakakeeny, Professor of Bassoon at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. We extend many thanks to our hosts Dr. Eric Stomberg and Dr. Margaret Marco of the University of Kansas and to the sponsor of the event. Please visit our festival page to read a review of the event.
