May 1, 2010, 3:00 PM Infusion, Resident Chamber Ensemble
Works on this program are the Petite Suite for piano duo by Claude Debussy, Serenata al alba del dia by Joaquín Rodrigo, Trio for Piano, Oboe, and Bassoon by Françis Poulenc, and the Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7 by Zoltán Kodály. Double reed performers are Emily Helvering, oboe, and Carol Rosing, bassoon.
May 1, 2010, 2:30 PM Keel Williams, bassoon, Artist Diploma recital
The program includes the Crusell Variations on Swedish Airs, Gubaidulina’s Duo for Bassoons, Henze’s New Folk Songs and Shepherd's Melodies, William Grant Still’s Spirituals arrangements, and Schumann’s Five Pieces in Folk Style. Assisting performers include Brendan Kinsella, piano, Michael Scott, bassoon, and Nick Omicciolli, guitar.
May 22, 2010, 12:00 PM Asa Ireland, senior bassoon recital
The program will include Vivaldi’s Concerto in E Minor, two Mignone Waltzes, Saint-Saëns’s Sonata, and Lallliet’s Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano. Kristy Mezines, piano, will join Asa in this performance.
June 11, 2010, 7:00 PM Washburn University Woodwind Quintet

June 19-25, 2010 Bassoon Institute, Interlochen Center for the Arts
This weeklong institute provides an intense training ground for advanced bassoonists. The faculty include Eric Stomberg, Amy Marinello (Univ. of Georgia), Patricia Rogers (Metropolitan Opera Orchestra), and George Sakakeeny (Oberlin Conservatory). June 23, 2010, 3:00 PM Moran Woodwind Quintet
Members John Bailey, flute; William McMullen, oboe; Diane Barger, clarinet; Alan Mattingly, horn; and Jeffrey McCray, bassoon; from the University of Nebraska—Lincoln will be performing a recital of music by Jean Françaix, Theodor Blumer, and Reynaldo Miranda.
June 23, 2010, 7:30 PM Evening Concert
Rodney Ackmann will be performing the Vincent Persichetti Parable IV for Bassoon on this recital.
June 24, 2010 University of Oklahoma, Norman
University of Missouri—Columbia bassoon professor and MDRS 1st Vice President, Rodney Ackmann will be performing a solo/collaborative recital that includes the Stücke im Volkston by Robert Schumann and Phantom Variations for Oboe, Bassoon and Piano by MU professor emeritus, John E. Cheetham. Assisting will be MU oboe professor, Dan Willett. The Phantom Variations received its World Premiere last February at the University of Missouri—Columbia.
June 24, 2010, 4:00 PM “The Pedagogical Legacy of Leonard Sharrow”
Rodney Ackamann will serve on a panel discussion during this session.
June 24, 2010, 10:00 AM Potpurri Recital
Jeffrey McCray, bassoon professor at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln will be performing two works with pianist Richard Fountain, Two Characteristic Pieces, op. 31, by Karl Goepfart, and the Lyric Sonatina by Canadian composer, Jean Coulthard. June 26, 2010, 1:00 PM University of Missouri—Kansas City Double Reed Ensemble
The performance will include Barbaresque, an original composition written for UMKC oboe professor Barbara Bishop by Lee Hartman (DMA, UMKC); Duke Ellington’s "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," arranged by Patrick Ketter (UMKC); an arrangement of Telemann’s Concerto for 6 Oboes with Bassoon Continuo; and an arrangement Piazzolla’s Tango for Four Bassoons.
June 26, 2010, 9:00 AM “Music for Mark”
This concert, dedicated to oboist Mark Weiger, will be given by his former students Emily Helvering, Trevor Johnson and Elizabeth Young Rennick. Works on the program include the Sonata for Oboe and Piano, Op. 54 by Arnold Rosner, Samuel Barber’s Canzonetta, and Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday.
February 19, 2011, 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM Missouri State University Double Reed Day
This event is an all-day workshop for oboe and bassoon players in grades 7 – 12. The clinicians are Cynthia Green Libby, oboe, and Lia Southern, bassoon. Admission is free.
March 1, 2011, 7:30 PM Cynthia Green Libby, Faculty Oboe Recital
This concert will feature music for oboe and harp, featuring works by Claude Debussy, Elizabeth Vercoe, William Grant Still and a world premiere by Derek Limback. Harpist Jeremy Chesman will join Dr. Libby. Admission is free.
